CFA North Carolina Society announces winner of the inaugural Investment Research Challenge 2008-09
Appalachian State University wins
Starting in October 2008, each of the competing teams was tasked with conducting research on a publicly traded company, writing an equity research report, and presenting their position to a panel of industry experts. Members of CFA North Carolina Society served as mentors and guided teams on the skills of thorough equity analysis including company visits, research writing and presentation.
Members from Appalachian State University 's winning team, who did a research analysis on Horizon Lines LLC, have each received Level I scholarship for the CFA Exam, Attendance to one of the CFA NC Society's premier events in 2009-2010 and dinner with the Board of Directors.The ASU student travels to New York on March 18 representing CFA NC as they compete against 35 other universities in the Americas Regional competition. The winner of the Americas Regional will compete in London for the Global Challenge.
