Richard Salsman, Ph.D., CFA Founder, President, and Chief Market Strategist, Intermarket Forecasting
Richard Salsman is founder, President and Chief Market Strategist of IFI, formulating and directing the quantifying of market-price indicators to guide the asset allocation decisions and trading strategies of pension funds, banks, independent investment managers, mutual funds and hedge funds. Since 2000 he has authored more than 750 research reports on the economy and markets, and his forecasting success rate has persistently surpassed those of peers on Wall Street.
Dr. Salsman is a noted authority on market history, supply-side economics, public debt, objective methods of economic-financial forecasting, and investment strategy. He is the author of three books, The Political Economy of Public Debt (Edward Elgar Publishing, February 2017), Gold and Liberty (AIER, 1995) and Breaking the Banks: Central Banking Problems and Free Banking Solutions (AIER, 1990). His work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily, Barron’s, Forbes, The Economist, The New York Times, and National Post (Canada). Since 2010 he has been a regular essayist at Forbes.com, focusing on the interaction between public policy and the economy.
Dirk Hofschire, CFA Senior VP, Global Asset Allocation group, Fidelity Investments
Dirk Hofschire is senior vice president of asset allocation research in the Global Asset Allocation (GAA) group at Fidelity Investments. Mr. Hofschire is a member of the Asset Allocation Research Team (AART), which conducts economic, fundamental, and quantitative research to develop asset allocation recommendations for Fidelity’s portfolio managers and investment teams. AART is responsible for analyzing and synthesizing investment perspectives across Fidelity’s asset management unit to generate insights on macroeconomic and financial market trends and their implications for asset allocation.
Previously with Fidelity Investments, Mr. Hofschire led the Market Analysis, Research and Education (MARE) group within Fidelity Management & Research Company (FMR Co.), which he created in 2005 to provide timely updates on trends in the economy and financial markets. He joined Fidelity as a senior portfolio analyst in 2000. Prior to joining Fidelity, Mr. Hofschire was a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State. He served in many different roles, including financial economist for the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs; economic and commercial officer at the U.S. Embassy is La Paz, Bolivia; and consular officer at the U.S. Embassy in San Jose, Costa Rica. Mr. Hofschire earned his bachelor of science degree in foreign service from Georgetown University and his master of business administration degree from Johns Hopkins University. He is also a graduate of the Economic and Commercial Studies Program from the National Foreign Affairs Training Center in Arlington, Virginia and a CFA charterholder.
